The Importance of Nutrition In Getting Six Pack Abs

Everyone wants a flat stomach and the epitome of fitness is six pack abs. This is especially a preoccupation with men as you see tons of commercials and ads online targetting young men to get ripped.

Whether the products work or not is subject to debate as there are good and bad programs on the market. However, here’s a little background on how to get good abs to help you decide.

Just so you are aware before you begin, getting rid of the protruding belly to reveal a six pack underneath takes a lot of discipline.

For those who are impatient, they can try compression undershirts for men or other types of men’s body shapewear in the meantime to get trim and to look better in their clothes.

With that being said, why is it so hard to get abs to show? Trainers, scientists and nutritionists all agree that abs are created in the kitchen and not in the gym. What these means is that you can do all the crunches and sit-ups you want and you still might not get that washboard stomach. You will definitely have great core muscles but they just won’t show if there’s a layer of fat over your stomach on top of it. This is why nutrition is so important for the development of abs.

What you need to do to shed that spare tire around your waist is to go into a calorie deficit so you can burn the fat. However, this does not mean starving yourself and dropping weight dramatically. This will just cause you to lose muscles – the very thing you’re trying to develop. A steady weight loss of 1 or 2 pounds a week is what is recommended.

Getting six pack abs requires finding a program committed both to nutrition and exercise.  It will require dedication on your part to follow through but you will finally be able to show off your body without the need of compression shirts or body shapers and know that you did it with hard work.
