Different Alternatives To Liposuction

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Alternatives to liposuction are becoming popular nowadays, because many still want to get that stunning and curved body but don’t want to undergo a surgery for many reasons. A lot are skeptical to get liposuction mainly because of the risks involved. Alternatives include the natural and the non surgical way.

One alternative is lypossage which does not only help eliminate body fats but promotes relaxation as well. It is a treatment a non-invasive treatment aimed at outlining the body. This is performed by a trained therapist using motorized rollers. It is a combination of different massage treatment including myofascial release and lymphatic drainage.

Lypossage works by clearing stagnant lymph fluids which creates lumps and budges. It also breaks up the linkage underneath the skin which influences the unattractive appearance of cellulite. This procedure is said to improve blood flow, clean out toxins and stimulates collagen production in the body.

Spa treatments such as seaweed wraps as well as creams and lotions are also alternatives for liposuction. They claim to help break up fat and flush them away, but these claims are not backed up by science. (more…)

The Benefits of Drinking Green Tea

Friday, August 13th, 2010

The population of Japan and China have been drinking Green Tea for as long as they can remember and quite probably longer than that. Why? Because they know, and have known for a very long time that this wonderful drink; harvested from the leaves of the Camillia Senensis, a flowering evergreen bush indigenous to south China, but now cultivated world wide, is good for your health.

Only recently has Green Tea began to take hold in the west and there is now enough anecdotal and scientific evidence to suggest that historical Asian culture knows what it is talking about. Green Tea Benefits are indeed far reaching. In fact it is claimed that regular consumption of green tea will help from everything from bad breath to preventing cancer. Such claims seem outlandish, but there is some scientific basis at work here. (more…)

How To Solve The Root Cause Of A Candida Yeast Infection

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Candida albicans a form of yeast is normally benign and may even play a positive role in the natural balance of micro-organisms in our bodies.  The problems occur when the yeast multiples out of control causing negative symptoms such as vaginal thrush (itchy, sore and sometimes painful vagina), penile yeast infections and oral thrush.

Particularly invasive forms of Candida in the gut are thought to develop into a fungal form with long root structures that penetrate the gastrointestinal wall.  These break down the barrier between the intestine and the bloodstream allowing toxins to enter the blood causing widespread health problems.  Candidiasis has been linked to a wide array of chronic conditions including Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as well as heart diseases, bladder problems, allergic reactions, fatigue, memory loss and even arthritis. Green tea for weight loss.  Can it really be that simple?  Will drinking tea make you skinny?  Well, no, it is not that simple, but drinking green tea or taking green tea supplements can help.

Smash It and Lose Weight

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

It’s Friday night and I’m at the Badminton center working up a sweat, training with the rest of the Iloilo Valiant Badminton Club. As I look around, I see a group of women in their 40s and 50s engaging in an exciting Badminton game of Doubles play. I’ve known them for quite a while, ever since I started training, actually. That was six years ago.

I’ve gotten to know these women for the past six years that I’ve seen them on court; I play with them every now and then. And, I found out that, although they stay until around 10 to 11pm in Badminton courts and join the occasional tournament, the real reason that they take part in this sport is not necessarily to compete, but to stay healthy and get some exercise. Body Detox With Acai Supplements

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Unless, you’ve lived in a remote island or hidden cave for the past few years, you’ve heard of acai.  The problem with it is that it has gained one of those multi-level marketing fevers about it.  This happens with a lot of products that are relatively inexpensive – because they are natural – and have amazing benefits.  These types of ‘miracle’ plants and fruits are often tapped for their health properties.  It is a blessing and a curse, at times, to take on such a global appeal.  Unfortunately, when they take on this type of mass appeal it can be hard to separate ‘fact from fiction’.  This article is just a way of bringing some of acai’s brief background and history to light. The Glutathione and Whey Protein Powder Connection

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

So what exactly is glutathione and how does whey protein powder play into this is a question you may be asking yourself? So lets start with an explanation of glutathione, what it is and what it does.

Glutathione is a protein that has several very important functions for promoting health and well being within us. It is the most potent antioxidant known and for this reason is often referred to as the ‘master antioxidant’. Unlike other antioxidants, glutathione actually lives within our cells and can only be made by the body. Taking glutathione supplements is ineffective, unlike other antioxidants like vitamin C and E, because it gets destroyed by the gut. So it has to be made within cells only. So as the ‘defender’ within our cells, glutathione fights off free radicals and oxidative damage that can impair our health, cause cancers, heart disease, other degenerative disorders and premature aging. Why Get B12 Shots?

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

There are many reasons that people decide to get B12 shots.  B12 deficiency is more common than you would like to think.  Additionally, many people decide to supplement with B12 thanks to the energy boost that it gives them.

Weight loss doctors also very often incorporate B12 shots into their weight loss plans, because it is believed that taking a B12 shot can give your metabolism a boost.  Let’s take a look at each of these three reasons to supplement with B12.

While true B12 deficiency is not all that common, it does exist.  At risk groups include the elderly and those who have had weight loss surgery.    More common than a B12 deficiency is having a lower than ideal level of B12 in your body.  Neurological symptoms begin to manifest themselves when you reach the “low normal” range. Vitamin D Supplements

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

There has been a lot of research lately touting the benefits of Vitamin D health supplements. In this article we will look at three different sources covering three different aspects of protection from Vitamin D.
This is a portion of an article from the January 2010 issue of Life Extension magazine. It discusses the protection Vitamin D offers against illness.

“Vitamin D from all sources (sunlight, sun lamps, or supplements) reduces the incidence of respiratory infections. Dutch children with the least sun exposure are twice as likely to develop a cough and three times more likely to develop a runny nose compared with children with the most sun exposure.

When Russian athletes were given sun lamps to stimulate vitamin D synthesis in the body, there were 50% fewer respiratory infections and far fewer days of absence.” (more…)
